Mike supplies the "man muscles" and spiritual leadership needed to keep the family farm ministry strong & healthy. He fulfills the roles of shepherd, prayer warrior, devoted husband & papa, captain of the wheel barrow, wood chopper, coal hauler, gardener, and "shrooner." Also, as part of his "God-call," Mike partners with the Lord to provide the financial resources through his day-job as a Transportation Coordinator & Dispatcher. His life verse is Psalm 16:8 . He is an especially gifted encourager and loving care-giver. Mike is a shepherd!
The long-time "God-vision" of this farm family ministry and a sincere devotion to living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ in community, is at the heart of everything Debbie does at TFO Farm. Her love for others fuels her boundless energy and commitment to serve as Christ calls and empowers. Deb's life verse is Psalm 118:24 . Her enthusiasm for all things equine and her insistence upon generosity & excellence as well as her gifts of discernment, encouragement and exhortation earned Deb the title, "Boss Mare."
Katelyn spends summers and other school breaks at TFO Farm with her Nana (Deb) & Papa (Mike) Peterson. She comes by her love for horses honestly.
Kate has a vision for a children's horse camp at the farm, someday. We know that all things are possible with Christ, so let's keep Katelyn in our prayers as she learns and grows in her love of Jesus and the spiritual gifts he has chosen just for her.
Meet the Too Far Out Farm Herd!
Junior is a 2002 halflinger/Mustang cross gelding. Many who visit the farm like him for his loveable personality. Of our current herd, he has been at Too Far Out Farm the longest - since 2007.
Glitter is a 2002 Thoroughbred / Morgan cross mare who came to Too Far Out Farm in early 2022 through grief & loss, as well as a long-awaited answer to the prayer of a 10-year-old, horse-crazy girl.
Clyde found his way here in 2017 through donation by Beth Robertson. He is a 12-hand (48" tall) very old halflinger gelding and was a favorite of the children who visited Too Far Out Farm until Christmas of 2024, when he became a Christmas pony for one very happy young lady. Clyde now lives at the home of a former FoR-HiM program participant, where he is living out his retirement years.
TFO Farm LLC invites you to come meet our newest arrival. Faith is a registered Morgan, bred in Cambridge Springs, PA at Anthony's Acres and foaled on April 6, 2023. She arrived at TFO Farm on October 27, 2023.
The sign adorning the front yard was a collaboration between designer Deb and her wood-working, step-dad, Bruce.
Prince arrived on Dec. 18, 2020, which also happened to be this handsome Border Collie's first birthday. Prince was a Christmas gift from our good friends and brother & sister in the faith, Aden & Clara Yoder. What a blessing!
Madeline, AKA Maddie (shown left of Prince) is a female Aussie Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix. She came home to Too Far Out Farm in October 2022 and these two dogs have been inseparable ever since. She is named after Debbie's beloved paternal grandmother (AKA Nana), Madeline Hahn Stibor Elmgren.
Madeline, affectionately known as "Maddie", found her way to Too Far Out Farm in October of 2022 at only 8 weeks old. She is a Aussie/Blue Heeler cross and her energy is contagious!
Presently, the herd leader, Junior is Debbie's "heart horse," but that wasn't always true. Ask Deb about their rocky start sometime...or read the full story on the TFO JOURNAL page of this website.
January 2012 was the first lambing season at TFO Farm and it all began with the 2011 donation of bottle lambs, Grace & Bella by Jenn Phillips, shepherd of The Bare Woolies Flock of Titusville , PA.
Former equine resident of TFO Farm, Jasper now delights campers at WLD Ranch in Girard, PA.
TFO visitor getting a riding lesson on Wilson with Debbie instructing. Wilson was the herd leader for many years at TFO Farm, prior to his passing in October 2017.
Up and coming shepherd, Katelyn feeds a bottle lamb from the 2017 lambing season, so named Pepsi for the bottle from which she nursed.
Beau served at TFO for several years before he was rehomed. He has since passed on and is greatly missed.
Trail riding in the winter is a favorite passtime at TFO Farm.
Angora rabbits, Popcorn & Uncle Fritz enjoyed a full life of entertaining TFO Farm visitors, making appearances at community events & providing their amazing wool for Deb's crochet projects. The rabbits aged out and have since passed on, but Mike & Deb are considering getting back into the "bunny business."
Clyde was donated to TFO Farm by Beth Robertson in Fall 2016. He tolerated many hair stylings and gave countless riding lessons & trail rides to many of TFO's smaller visitors. Clyde served the community well during his tenure at TFO Farm and has earned a cushy retirement home with one of his young students and her family at a nearby farm. He continues to be well-loved!
Moonlight's Glitter is a TB/Morgan cross and the gentle giant of our herd. She was donated to TFO Farm in January 2022 by our good friends, the Minor Family. To learn more of her bitter/sweet journey here, you may click this photo.
Festus, barn cat extraordinaire single-handedly manages all rodent control responsibilities in the stable of Too Far Out Farm. He first made his home here in the summer of 2017 and loves a good scratch, especially around dinnertime.
A prince of cats, Merle arrived in the summer of 2017. Merle is a very affectionate and handsome feline who is greatly loved, but he doesn't love the cold winters in the barn. He hasn't been seen around lately, so we think he probably found another home where the accommodations suit his house-cat mentality.
Double-R-Faith is a beautiful, registered Morgan filly, bred by Brenda Anthony of Anthony's Acres Horse Farm, Cambridge Springs, PA. Faith arrived at TFO Farm on October 27, 2023 when she was just 7 months old. She is a dream-come-true for Mike & Deb, who are raising and training her themselves. We will see how that goes! Prayers appreciated! You may read about our "Faith Journey" at the blog of the same name at...
